About the Guyana Basins Summit 2022

Exploration, Production & Transition

The objectives of the summit are to drive Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana’s hydrocarbon resources and their nascent petroleum industry, becoming the meeting place for industry executives, government stakeholders and experts for networking and valuable insight into the region’s potential; its challenges and the road ahead.

For its physical edition, GBS will run over three days in Georgetown. It will include a two-day strategic conference, along with a technical day, covering the whole value chain of the petroleum industry of the Guyana-Suriname Basins. The conference will be organised alongside a commercial exhibition offering domestic and international companies the opportunities to showcase their products and expertise and to drive business partnerships.

GBS 2022 will bring oil & gas leaders and the global energy community together during the physical edition (14-16 September in Georgetown, Guyana) to create investment and development in the Guyana-Suriname Basins.

GBS 2022 is a uniquely global summit that will provide a platform for the industry to forge partnerships, showcase innovation and drive the industry forward at this important time for the region.

As one of the few major new conventional oil regions discovered this century and with estimated production costs of approximately $46 per barrel sitting well below current oil prices and predicted annual gross oil revenues of $13 billion by 2025, Guyana is also proving increasingly competitive.

The oil and gas sector can also propel other sectors within the Guyanese economy, ensure that the Guyanese benefit from the natural resources available, and contribute to the development of a Green Economy in Guyana.
